Thanks largely to the World Wide Web and the continued proliferation in broadband internet, the barriers of communication have been largely broken. Landline telephones have given way to VoIP (Voice over IP) and modern cell phones now allow people to share videos and pictures with friends, family and colleagues almost instantly.
With all these methods of communication readily available through different mediums, how do you stay connected to your important contacts?
Video sharing websites like YouTube facilitate creating "vlogs" (video web logs), a great way of perhaps showing off new properties in another state, creating a how to, or connecting on a more personal level with contacts. For many however, videos have yet to reach the point of instant.
It’s likely the term "Twitter" has come up in some form or another. Instead of having to go through the sometimes laborious process of recording video, encoding it, and then uploading, Twitter users can send "tweets" that instantly inform followers of what they’re doing. This can be anything as mundane as what someone had for dinner to announcing important breaking news literally right when it happens.
Some more recent technologies being developed by names like Google and the more obscure Loopt allow people to see where their friends, family and colleagues are at any given time which means arranging a lunch meeting of some kind is largely a matter of doing a quick check to make sure all parties involved are in the same area.
So, how do you stay connected?
